GRIZO Thermo+ on an external wall under siding
Insulating an old building from the outside — a timber frame of vertical battens, GRIZO Thermo+ mat fixed horizontally and a second layer of battens ready for siding.

How it was done
This time we show an external wall insulation project on an old building — proof that GRIZO Thermo+ reflective mat works not only in attics, but also as effective façade insulation.
We started by building a timber frame of vertical battens, fixed evenly across the whole wall. The rest of the structure rests on them, so keeping them plumb and evenly spaced was crucial.
We laid GRIZO Thermo+ mat horizontally on the frame, strip by strip, overlapping at the joints. The mirror-like reflective layer reflects thermal radiation and at the same time forms a continuous barrier protecting the wall from wind and moisture. We took particular care with the detailing around windows and doors — this is where thermal bridges occur most easily.
On top of the mat we fixed a second layer of the structure — external battens that create a ventilation gap. This is where the siding, the final façade finish, will be fixed. This layer arrangement: wall – reflective mat – ventilation gap – siding, provides very good insulation with minimal overall wall thickness.
Result: the old building will gain a modern, energy-efficient façade. In winter the heat will stay inside, in summer the mat will reflect heating solar radiation, and the ventilated façade will keep the whole structure durable for years.
